Today is World Cancer Day, a day to raise awareness and take action 🌎👊

Mouth cancer is the sixth most common cancer in the UK with over 10,825 new cases reported last year.

Did you know that the chance of survival is greatly improved if cancers are detected early and treated rapidly? That’s why prevention is key and your dentist or hygienist can help spot early signs of mouth cancer during routine checkups.

We want to remind everyone of the importance of skin cancer check-ups. Melanoma skin cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK and according to the NHS, around 16,000 new cases are new cases are diagnosed each year.

It is most commonly caused by exposure to UV rays from the sun over time and is usually diagnosed by a dermatologist after a patient notices an abnormality in a mole. Most patients with malignant melanoma will be treated with surgery, radiotherapy, and often chemotherapy too.

That is why it is extremely important that you visit a dermatologist urgently if you see a change in the size, shape or colour of one of your moles.
